Nutrition of the Painting

"By painting food as a motif, I draw visual information for building a work of art. The diverse selection on a rich table inspires me with its served meals, unexpected settings and unlimited color combinations. With the cycle of paintings created under the name "Food Pictures", I paint food as living nature because that's how I perceive it. I want this motif on my canvases to be visually consumed. With the expressiveness of the painter's stroke, I write honest records of observed and experienced meals. Color is the primary artistic element in my paintings because through color I feel, perceive and build my artistic expression. By abstracting painterly records into different spectrums of surfaces, lines and rhythm, I try to convey the intense experience of food on canvas.

Analyzing my creative impulses, the work process and the works I create, I try to understand and see my relationship to painting, the environment and myself. I think this search will lead me to a better understanding of the relationship between the artist and his work. The paintings that I did for the final (master's) exhibition and which round off the painting-research process in the second cycle of studies contributed significantly to this research. The exhibited works belong to the opus entitled "Food of Pictures" and were created in the period from 2016 to 2020.

Feeding the canvas with paint - I feed the picture, and the picture feeds me, and so on. The food of the painting is also my food - color. Color is like a calorie, and a calorie is energy that gives me strength for further creation - painting".
