In my attempts to translate the painter's expression into words
"In my attempts to put into words the painterly expression, message and manner of Aleksandar's, Duško's and Zorica's paintings and their drawings, I came up with a concept that certainly makes, for all three, one truth, sincerity. As the basic imperative of their creations in drawing and painting, in the techniques of oils, oil pastels and acrylics, they all individually show us, quite clearly, a special, individual and strong expression. The way in which Aleksandar succeeds in getting into the very essence of the artistic form, in the expressed coloristic struggles that in the paintings, as well as the clean and decisive strokes and lines in the drawing, as the end product creates and connects the objectivity, derived from his constant analytical observation, and the non-negligible and ubiquitous subjectivity, which is a manifestation of a strong emotion that shapes and subdues his compositions, gives them a dynamism that takes us away, which he then contrasts with the surfaces of peace. He achieves all this in different motifs, from portraits to independent settings through his decisive and loud, yet poetic handwriting. In his pastels, Duško achieves an extraordinary maturity of artistic expression in the way he composes, juxtaposes and shapes colored surfaces in combination with airy drawing, which creates a special, even dreamy atmosphere. In search of his own truths in observation, he manages, quite bravely, to present to us with his analyticalness and the way he feels the color that flows from one form to another with fine, soft transitions, changing its values, so gently, but still so expressively. a world of airy lightness, beautifully unreal and even more sincere. His pastels, in my eyes, look like lines of the most beautiful poetry. Zorica, certainly the most of all, shows through her paintings and drawings a pure, childlike immediacy and emotion that flickers through every line, form and color. Her biggest struggles with herself actually give birth to and create her most expressive and sincere drawings and paintings, from which her strong intuition and sensitivity radiate. With complete ease, as if unconsciously, he plays with line and color, in which there is not even a moment of calculation. Her expressiveness does not allow us to look away from her paintings and drawings so easily and it becomes contagious.
I leave room, at the end, for all subsequent artistic creations that will surely develop, with their dedication and inevitable, but precious struggles, in the directions that we will call their creations.”
